Charest meets with Gary Bettman - the rumour

Last week, the local radio station FM93 launched the rumour that Mark Charest, president of committees "LNH Quebec" and "Nordik Center" met with Mr. Marcel Corriveau, mayor of St-Augustin and Mr. Gary Bettman, commissioner of the National Hockey League.

The FM93 source information is still unknown. However, the morning team of the radio station confirms to have conversed with the mayor, M. Corriveau, last Monday May 12 and apparently the mayor did not really deny this rumour.

Invited live the following Tuesday, the mayor was questioned on the facts and asked to comment and confirm this rumour. The questions became more and more precise making the mayor Corriveau uncomfortable. In one of his answers, M. Corriveau invited the morning man Sylvain Bouchard to question people of the committee and specially Mark Charest.

A few minutes later, the FM93 confirms that a 45 minutes face-to-face meeting took place between Mark Charest, Gary Bettman and the mayor Corriveau. The next morning, another radio station confirms the meeting between Charest and Bettman as well. So what we know so far, is that neither Mark Charest nor anyone from the committees public relation department would comment on this meeting.

A feat of ingenuity

Does this rumour prove to be true or false? Why did not Charest comment this rumour?

What are the reasons for which suddenly everyone shuts up like an oyster on this subject? Is it possible that there was a strict command to extinguish a fire coming from a leak?

Gary Bettman runs an ultra tight schedule and has a very busy diary 7 days a week. How did Charest convince the big boss of the NHL to meet with him whereas Bettman is coveted by several major city mayors wishing to have an NHL Franchise? Where was Marcel Aubut or the Quebec City mayor Régis Labeaume?

Is the publicly killed Charest's dream becoming reality?

Does the « Nordik Center » project reach today's NHL vision? Why would Gary Bettman have agreed to meet Mark Charest?

Is the one for which all said had neither the capability nor the credibility to carry out this gigantic project would already be so far along than we could all hope and imagine?

Don't we have in front of us a promoter who is to some extent a clever strategist, strong like a horse who becomes a hard working ant able to silently penetrate where it is necessary to achieve his goal?

Can we allow ourselves to slow down the one that, at the same time, pushes and pulls the wheel or would it not be in our favour to follow his plan, join our forces and support his efforts to recover what was taken from us?
